PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The keratinase is produced by submerged fermentation of Aspergillus niger followed by purification and formulation. It’s a protease with broad specificity. The enzyme is capable of degrading water soluble and insoluble proteins like collagen, whey protein, casein and especially keratin into water soluble smaller peptides and amino acid, outperforming most non-keratin degrading proteases.

Keratin is commonly found in fur, feather, horn, hoof and fish scale. Keratin is normally resistant to proteolysis by conventional protease due to high amount of cross-linked disulfide bonds and hydrophobic amino acids that combine peptides tightly. Besides peptidase keratinase also contains disulfide reductase activity, which can efficiently break down the disulfide bonds and denatures the protein. The peptidase then gradually degrades the denatured protein into peptides and amino acids. Thus, keratinase can hydrolyze keratin-rich protein materials under mild conditions.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE

10-25g per ton of feedstuff.
